Which hot tub brand is the best?
Again, this is a personal preference, depending on the desired use of the hot tub. Here at HotSpring World, all of our hot tubs feature unique hydrotherapy water jets, sophisticated styling and ultimate comfort to suit all your needs.
We stock Highlife, Limelight, Hot Spot and Freeflow spas in a range of sizes.
What are the differences between water jets and air jets?
Water jets propel water in a powerful stream, providing a powerful massage effect. Air jets stream air into the water, and the massaging action is not as forceful.
While hot tubs with water jets generally cost more than hot tubs with air jets, we would always recommend opting for a hot tub with water jets for better quality and a more luxurious experience.
What is the difference between a jacuzzi and a hot tub?
In short, Jacuzzi is the brand name of an Italian company that sell hot tubs. Think of it like hoover vs vacuum cleaner. The brand name has been used to refer to the entire category of products, however there are many more companies that make and sell hot tubs.
Hot Tub installation
How do you install a hot tub?
Once you have chosen your preferred hot tub, our experienced staff will assist you with the installation process.
Unless you have a listed property, or live in an area of outstanding beauty, you will not need planning permission. We request that the hot tub has a solid and level base to be placed on due to the weight of the unit once it is filled with water. Easy access to a power outlet and hose pipe is also recommended.
How long does a hot tub take to heat up?
If you are heating your hot tub for the first time after installation, the hot tub will take up to 24 hours to reach the desired temperature. From then on, with our great selection of economic covers your hot tub will only need topping up every so often, which should take around 30 minutes.
How much electricity does a hot tub use?
Depending on the season, hot tubs should be heated between 37 and 42 degrees celsius. During the warmer summer months, people often have their spa set at 37C, which is about body temperature.
In the winter you can increase the heat of most hot tubs to a maximum of 42C – most models won’t go any higher for safety reasons.
Hot Tub maintenance
How do you clean a hot tub?
We recommend checking the water regularly, especially if you use it frequently, to ensure that the chemical levels are maintained. We offer products that will make testing the cleanliness of your hot tub so much easier, such as test strips and full maintenance kits.
We also recommend draining the water completely every three months. You can clean oil and grease from the surface of your hot tub with a surface cleaner – and this product can also be used to clean the entire body of the hot tub whenever it is fully drained.
How do you clean a hot tub filter?
Over time, filters will clog with dirt and grease until they no longer allow water to flow through. This can make jets and heaters weak. Use instant filter cleaner on a weekly basis to remove oils, minerals and debris from your filters, and use cartridge cleaner once a month for a deeper clean.
Read the instructions for your individual hot tub when it comes to checking your system’s filters are working correctly.
What chemicals do I need for a hot tub?
Chlorine is the most common hot tub chemical as it is suitable for most hot tubs and spas and will clean any germs and impurities in the water. This is closely followed by bromine. We always recommend following the manufacturer’s guidelines when adding strong chemicals like chlorine. Here at HotSpring World we have a great range of water care products to ensure your hot tub is always clean and running efficiently.
How much chlorine should I put in my hot tub?
Each dose of chlorine will depend on the size of the hot tub and amount of water you have in the tub. We always recommend reading the instructions on the chlorine product before using in your HotSpring World hot tub.
Why is my hot tub water green?
Green water indicates that your hot tub has active bacteria growing in it. Empty the water out and then scrub all of the surfaces with a chlorine solution.
Rinse with clean water and then refill the hot tub. We then recommend shock dosing the spa with a combination of chlorine and non-chlorine shock – always check product instructions to ensure you use the correct amount.
How many years does an outdoor hot tub last?
An outdoor hot tub’s life will really depend on a few factors, including the efficiency of cleaning and maintaining the tub.
Typically HotSpring World hot tubs will last up to 20 years with regular maintenance and cleaning as well as making sure your cover does not get damaged (and we do have HotSpring owners out there with spas going strong that are even older).
Hot Tub health benefits
Are hot tubs good for you?
Hot tubs are known to reduce stress, ease muscle soreness, help with arthritis, increase blood flow, relieve injury swelling, improve sleep and soothe chronic pain. In short, there are many benefits to having a hot tub.
Are hot tubs good for your skin?
Hot tubs have a great effect on skin, as regular soaks in a hot tub will help open up your pores so your skin not only looks great, but feels soft as well.
If you have a known allergy or reaction to certain cleaning products, we would recommend using alternatives such as our Freshwater Salt System that are kind on skin.
How long can you stay in a hot tub?
Just like a bath, sitting in a hot tub for a long period of time will have no negative effect on you or your skin. The only physical side effect is wrinkling hands and feet!
Pregnant women and those with health concerns such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure should consult a doctor before using a hot tub, and it’s also important to keep yourself hydrated.
